Not sure what I’m doing just yet – got a concept or two I might sketch – might also paint on dear old Sebastian here. What I can promise is music and probably live mic and swearing. Cause why the fuck not.
For the Patreon this month I’m offering coloring sheets of my artwork. For people who desire or need to color fancy butterfly women in ballgowns or an angel smiting a demon.
I’m sitting on a few ideas for the next serious post. But right now I figured I’d post this as a reassurance the next big piece on my docket is not going to be anywhere near as bloody, morbid or heavy as Saint Agatha.
I decided I wanted to play with color, I like 60s aesthetics, travel posters, and heists. So I’m gonna try my hand at some Lupin. The Third. Not the LeBlanc one.
I have a lot of research for this piece – cause I have an idea in my head of what I want but its not quite clicking so I keep hoarding images in hopes something will help fill in the blanks.
(I started this in January and took too long on it. But apparently the feast of St Agatha is this week so lets pretend I planned this. )
Okay – so the New Year has arrived – and is in fact – still here. I’m not one for New Year Resolutions – but I do tend to make the New Year an occasion for me to examine what I’m doing and how to improve it. With this in mind I should be working on social media and how to make my online presence a thing that exists. But I hate social media and am avoiding working on it so lets talk about Saint Iconography with a side note of women’s roles in history.
Warning – this will probably get a bit gory and rough. Because – history is rarely clean and pleasant. Also politics of now gets briefly mentioned.
So 2018 hunh? Been a bit of a rough ride. I mentally don’t take milestones well and this one was a bit of a painful one for me. But time waits for no one – no matter how many blankets they hide under. So onwards we go.
It’s been a year of bad news it seems. Personal and political. For a while I was dreading answering the telephone or logging online for fear of what I’d see.
But I suppose it wasn’t all bad. This year I made a coloring book, got involved in a trading card kickstarter for a podcast I used to work for, made a sticker set. While most of these haven’t been “successful” they’ve been good experiences, lessons learned and all that.
I also started therapy which seems to have helped a bit. And most importantly, I finally managed to make a Krampus card this holiday my own parents were happy to share with relatives. Miracles happen even in dark times.
I sadly confess I have a few drafts I was intending to finish up and post here but I got caught up in life. I’ll probably try to finish them up and queue them for more appropriate seasons. Energy is never lost – just goes else where and all that.
But yea – 2018 – good effing riddance. Here’s hoping we can make 2019 a bit kinder.
